This handsome 1924 Brunswick-Balke-Collender Medalist pool table is sister to its 10 foot, 6 legged counterpart. While this Medalist only has 4 legs, make no mistake, it is as sturdy as they come! A modified version of the ‘Jumbo’ framework, the Brunswick Medalist is built with the superior engineering and manufacturing that Brunswick has been renowned for time and time again. The sides are constructed of heavy 5-ply compound, which are then overlaid with a top molding of perfectly hand-selected and carefully kiln-dried lumber. The sides are fastened to the legs with maple dowels and metal bolts, and cross stretchers that extend both horizontally and vertically across the table provide even further structural support and stability. Finally, everything is tongued, grooved, and securely glued together and veneered for a sharp, striking appearance. The Medalist is further detailed with exquisite swirly Butt Walnut, bird’s eye maple, ebony, and other exotic inlays, and is hand rubbed to a dull finish to give it a handsomely unpolished, more natural look. The top rails are faced with solid Rosewood and decorated with Mother-of-Pearl inlays and the famous Brunswick nameplate.
The Brunswick Medalist pool table features premium quality 1” (regulation thickness) slate which consists of 3 pieces that are secured together by brass dowels and sockets for a smooth and even play surface that is entirely free of screw holes. The cushion rails, which are made of three layers of wood with alternating grain to protect against climatic change, feature invisible cushion bolts which are covered by ‘blind cushion rails’ deeming bolt caps unnecessary. No. 6 style pocket irons are also countersunk into the cushion rails using brass sockets for a flawless appearance. Finally, the Brunswick Medalist is equipped with Monarch ‘Perfect Angle’ cushions, promising accurate and precise rebounds every time!
