Circa 1920, this Brunswick-Balke-Collender 9’ Arcade table is a gorgeous piece of Brunswick history that has been professionally restored and is now ready for its new home! A combination of classic Greek, ancient Egyptian, and Oriental splendor, the BBC Arcade table is of Brunswick’s highest class in both construction and ornamentation. The Arcade pool table features handsomely figured Mahogany that has been finished and hand rubbed to a dull polish. Gorgeous details like the white and black holly inlays and round Mother of Pearl sights adorn the table and give it an appearance of opulence and luxuriousness.
This ‘Jumbo’ framework pool table is unusually heavy (approximately 2,265 lbs) and extremely substantial. The sides are compound construction, meaning they are tongued and grooved together, and double veneered on the outside and inside. The table’s cross stretchers are bolted to reinforcing blocks to help support the large framework, and the solid four legs are 12” square at the bottom and taper to 9” at the top where they are secured to the table by means of bolts and screws. All of this supports the 3 piece 1” thick slate which is reinforced with a wood frame and secured by means of brass dowels and sockets, ensuring that no screw holes are ever visible on the playing surface.
The rails of the Arcade pool table are also built of compound construction, with several different types of hardwoods used to provide optimal strength and prevent it from being affected by any climatic changes. Invisible cushion bolts are covered by Brunswick’s Blind Cushion Rails, and the solid Rosewood top rails are inlaid with beautifully intricate white and black holly designs and decorated with round Mother of Pearl sights across the top. The pocket irons are No. 6 style and are countersunk into the cushion rails with brass sockets. The cushions on the BBC Arcade are Brunswick’s Match Game Perfect Angle cushions, made locally in Muskegon, Michigan from a special formula exclusive to Brunswick to guarantee you speed, durability, and accurate rebound angles every single time!
