A throwback to Brunswick’s heritage, the Ashbee pool table is a combination of both the English and Continental styles of the 16th – 19th centuries. This seemingly sudden interest in “old world” furniture and European styling resulted from the emerging affluence of the middle class in the 20s, and focused on elegant patterns and detailed wood grains. And this is particularly evident on the Ashbee! As you can see, the aprons and sills of this table are intricately detailed with a hand-inlaid design of scrolling vines made of chestnut on mahogany with thin lines of ebony.
But make no mistake, the Ashbee is also a very solidly built pool table that boasts full nut and bolt assembly, and is constructed of solid curubixia with a dovetail cross beam and sturdy pagoda style legs. The oversized top rails sport a bullnose bevel and are topped with attractive Mother of Pearl diamond shaped sights.
