As many in the billiards world are now aware, Paul “Professor Q-Ball” Frankel has officially begun his well-earned retirement. For over three decades, Paul has been much more than a publisher; he has been a mentor, a record-keeper, and a tireless advocate who played a massive role in keeping the sport of three-cushion billiards alive in America.
It is a personal honor for us here at Pro Billiards to have been chosen to host an official retirement announcement.
In addition to his announcement, we are proud to maintain a few of the legendary stories and records he championed throughout his career. This includes archival coverage of the Hugo Patino 31-point run and historical Derby City straight pool highlights.
Paul’s legacy of precision and integrity in billiards is the same standard we strive to uphold every day in our shop. While the Professor has retired from active publishing, we are proud to help preserve, grow, and champion the game. Today, that same commitment continues through our work in Michigan, where we focus on the restoration and sale of high-quality new, used, and antique pool tables that meet the rigorous standards of the next generation of players. We thank the Professor for his decades of service and are honored to play a part in keeping this small piece of billiards history alive.
